I Will Work With Others To Build A World Beyond War

War has had a long saga of its own, but like other archaic behaviors it has reached its last chapter in human history. We can draw from examples like the brutal endeavors of slavery and human sacrifice, once thought necessary for survival. Like war, these activities emerged from faulty belief systems. When our ancestors changed their way of thinking about these traditions, they moved beyond tolerance of them.
When we work together in the Beyond War community, we deepen our own understanding of what it means to change our way of thinking about war. We discover effective alternatives. But we know we cannot simply impose solutions on others. A world beyond war will only be accomplished through people working with each other, building agreement.
In Beyond War, people work together in Action Teams, committing to follow the guiding principles and core practices. Team members experiment with these concepts and share their experiences, learning from each other. Action Teams follow their own interests and strengths, and engage in a wide variety of activities to educate and inspire others. The Beyond War International Office helps keep Action Teams connected to each other and serves as a resource for educational materials and creative ideas, providing support, inspiration and hope.
The destructive power of modern weaponry gives our work a sense of urgency. Only by working together will we discover new, productive ways to hasten the reality of a world where war is a thing of the past.
